Dora Ross Steir

Ms. Steir is a trial attorney with over 10 years experience in the management of complex commercial litigation, representing corporations in settlement negotiations, jury trials, bench trials, and appeals, where she has obtained numerous favorable results. In addition to appearing in New York federal and state court, Ms. Steir has also participated in a lengthy trial in Wisconsin state court.

 

Some of her more noteworthy case resolutions and
decisions include:*

 

• Obtaining a $5 million settlement on behalf of a well known publication;
   

• Attaining in excess of $20 million in insurance recovery monies for investment advisors of a financial institution as a result of government investigations and class action lawsuits stemming from allegations of market timing and directed brokerage;
   

• Achieving a 50-state settlement of claims of alleged deceptive advertising for a direct marketing company;
   

• Obtaining a dismissal on a motion to dismiss based on lack of venue and subject matter jurisdiction for a prestigious publishing company;
   

• Assisting a major newspaper publication to obtain business interruption coverage monies as a result of the events on September 11, 2001;
   

• Achieving voluntary dismissal of insurer's claim against major manufacturing company.
