Richard M. Harris

Of Counsel

 

Mr. Harris is a civil litigator, criminal trial attorney, investigative counsel and municipal advisor.  For over twenty years, Richard has provided services to municipal governments in the areas of land use, environmental regulation, NYS Building and Fire code enforcement, criminal prosecution, internal affairs and regulation of licensed businesses (including solid waste, construction, taxis and restaurants). He is currently the Deputy Village Attorney and Director of the Department of Building and Planning for the Incorporated Village of Port Jefferson, and he holds a certification as a NYS Code Enforcement Official. He is an active member of the Belle Terre community, where he previously served as Village Prosecutor and is now an elected Village Trustee.

 

Mr. Harris has previously served as the Senior Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Southampton, as investigative counsel for the NYC School Construction Authority’s Office of the Inspector General investigating fraud, waste, abuse and ethical violations in the construction industry, and as Assistant County Attorney in Westchester County where he investigated organized crime in the solid waste industry.
